7 years after the earlier type NSX (NA1) aka “92R” ended its production, NSX-R aka “02R”, the special model for the latter type NSX (NA2) was released in May of 2002. The name “R” was not used during those 7 years.
This example, although it does not have a “R” attached to it, is a “Type-S zero” which was built for circuit driving, and has the same potential as the “R”.

Sans air conditioning, audio, and reducing sound insulation material, the example shed 96kg (compared to the NSX coupe with power steering).
It is also equipped with a hard setting suspension. The V6 DOHC VTEC 3.2-liter (C32B) engine is mated to a six-speed mission. Equipped with a MOMO authentic leather steering, RECARO full bucket seat and a titanium shift knob, it has the distinctive presence of the flagship model.

The exterior is Indy yellow pearl (Y52P) over yellow.
