This is a Lexus IS F CCS-R (Circuit Club Sport Racer) that won the 2021 Inter Proto Series Gentleman class after winning 4 out of the 8 races. It features an ASP Racing livery with a white and black colour scheme with metallic silver details. Both the interior and exterior are in good condition despite racing for a full season.
Maintenance was carried out by RS中春 (Racing Service Nakaharu) who used to have a Super GT team. Once it finished the season it got a transmission replacement and is currently in ready-to-race condition with just a few small details requiring maintenance to enter a race.
In terms of safety equipment, suspensions and engine specifications, they all meet the Inter Proto Series entry requirements.
The main difference between the IS F CCS-R and a standard IS F is the weight. Extensive use of carbon fibre inside and out, as well as lightened doors and polycarbonate windows helped reduce weight significantly, weighing over 300kg lighter. The chassis was reinforced with a roll-cage.
The engine has not been significantly modified with the naturally aspirated 5-litre V8 only benefitting from a titanium exhaust. The transmission is also unchanged meaning that the 8-speed automatic gearbox, which can be operated via paddles, remains for its ease of use and smoothness.
There are many elements that give it a serious race car look such as the canards, rear wing and polycarbonate windows, inside the bare cabin, the roll cage, fire extinguisher and carbon panels indicate that this is a serious machine. Despite this, Lexus set out to make a race car that could be enjoyed by drivers of all skill levels so it was set up with both amateurs and pros in mind with a focus on safety and driver satisfaction. The suspension for example, is of course set up for the track but it’s on the softer side for more forgiving handling. Electronic systems are also present to help improve driving skills of beginners and help more experienced drivers get closer to the limits of the car.
The CCS-R is a real race car, but one designed with a range of drivers in mind, from beginners to pros. It’s a car made for enjoyment and to hone drivers’ on-track skills.
