Japan’s original sports car icon, the first-generation Fairlady Z.
Preserving its flowing long-nose, short-deck proportions, this example has been comprehensively updated to deliver stress-free yet exhilarating performance suited to modern traffic conditions.
The base car is the later S31 model, developed to meet increasingly strict emissions regulations. At its heart, replacing the original L-series engine, sits Nissan’s celebrated modern straight-six, the RB25DE. Without turbochargers, it delivers a seamless, naturally aspirated surge through the rev range, culminating in a crystalline high-rev note - an experience best described as a “musical instrument in motion.”
However, the true value of this car lies in its usability.
While the seats have been upgraded to RECAROs, the exterior appearance remains largely faithful to factory specification, and key interior elements - including the gauges, steering wheel, and shift knob - retain an original-correct presentation.
At the same time, two of the greatest concerns for classic car ownership, heat and heavy steering, have been addressed. An air-conditioning unit from the R33 Skyline has been installed, while electric power steering ensures light, precise handling from city streets to winding mountain roads.
The suspension is equipped with full-adjustable coilovers from STAR ROAD, a respected name in the classic Japanese car scene. Paired with Hayashi Racing wheels, the setup allows the RB25DE’s output to be deployed with both composure and excitement - whether on contemporary road surfaces or even on track.
Freed from the typical hardships of maintaining a classic, the driver is rewarded with sharp throttle response and steering feel that reacts to the slightest input. It is faithful to the admired Z, redefined through modern engineering.
Not a car to be purely displayed, but one to be driven—- firmly by the wheel and enjoyed without restraint. A machine for the passionate driver who intends to keep going, wherever the road may lead.
