1981 Ferrari 512 BB
- Ferrari Classiche Certified
- Successor of the 365GT/4 BB
The 512 BB was announced at the 1976 Paris Motor Show to succeed the 365GT/4 BB.
While they look similar, there are a few distinguishing points on the Pininfarina-designed body. The most well-known changes are the tail lights and exhaust exits changing from triple to double units. At the front, the bumper received a spoiler and on the side, a NACA duct was added in front of the rear wheels.
Another change was to the 180-degree V12 which had its displacement increased to 4,943 cc; the new 5-litre 12-cylinder engine is what determined the name of Ferrari’s new car. With a compression ratio of 9.2 and four Weber triple choke 40IF3C carburetors, power actually decreased by 20 hp to 360 hp, but torque increased by 2 kg-m to 46.0 kg-m. The increased displacement and torquier feel made it a more usable car on the road, it became a success and representative car of the supercar boom.
Although it was a successful model for Ferrari, it is still rare, with only 929 units produced. This example has Ferrari Classiche certification which attests to its originality.
The Ferrari 512 BB is a model appreciated by many enthusiasts and this example with Ferrari Classiche is especially collectable.
