The Town Ace is a van that is positioned between the Hiace and the smaller Mini Ace and is still very popular today due to its high level of convenience.
This example is a first generation Town Ace, which was introduced in 1976. It’s a passenger van model with three rows of seats and a capacity for seven passengers.
It has not had any parts replaced since Mr. Ikeda purchased it, and maintains a high degree of originality. The exterior is in relatively good condition with no major scratches or rust.
The brown interior is also highly original, and it has a distinct feel that only a car of the period can have. However, the front seats upholstery is now dark red as it was replaced by the previous owner, but they match the brown body well.
As this is a passenger van, it is not equipped with any special camping features but the second and third rows of seats can be folded completely flat so that they can be used as a bed large enough for two people. If only the third row is folded down, it still allows a considerable amount of camping gear to be loaded.
The battery needs to be replaced, but the engine runs well and has not had issues.
With its versatile luggage space, comfortable interior and good overall condition of the mechanicals, it can be used for leisure activities as it is. However, due to its good looks, it is also a great base to create a classic camper.
