This is a 1990 BMW E30 M3 with modifications inspired by the machine that raced in DTM. The fenders have been enlarged to accommodate the 255-size Yokohama Advan A050 tyres mounted on 17-inch TE37 wheels by RAYS and an AP Racing brake kit (6- pot front, 4-pot rear). The car’s circuit racing focused design is plain to see. Most of the work done on this car was by J-Craft using the original adjustable coilovers and matching spring rates (12kg/ mm at the front, significantly stiffer 26.8kg/mm at the rear).

The front mounted carbon lip spoiler extends below the engine and serves to regulate airflow underneath the bodywork. The bumper is fitted with a carbon canard, increasing the front down- force. Furthermore, the doors and bonnet are made of FRP (fibre- glass reinforced plastic) and the windows are acrylic - every effort to reduce weight has been taken.

The engine is a BMW Motorsports block sourced and air filters fitted with J-Craft’s original 2.7L stroke crankshaft and cams which are controlled by MoTeC. The exhaust system is modified with J-Craft stainless steel manifolds and a titanium exhaust. These tun- ing measures produce a maximum output of 310 horsepower and 314 Nm of torque.

The interior has been stripped of any comfort equipment in favour of race oriented outfittings, such as Recaro SPG seats, a Chromoly roll cage, and Sabelt four-point harnesses. The dash- board remains stock, however the instruments have been replaced by Stack components. A highlight of this modification is the Quaife six-speed sequential gearbox. The sequential shifting allows for instantaneous gear changes.

This E30 weighs just 1,020 kg with a fully tuned engine produc- ing 310 horsepower and a six-speed sequential gearbox by Quaife, leading to a machine with unparalleled fighting power. This particu- lar example is well suited for someone who wants to drive hard on a track.
