Guided by the philosophy of allowing “anyone, anywhere, at any time to enjoy the ultimate supercar life,” the R35-generation Nissan GT-R reigned as Japan’s definitive modern sports car icon throughout its 18-year production run, from its debut in 2007 until the end of production in 2025.

In 2011, during the early phase of the model’s evolution — when the engine, chassis, and aerodynamic systems first reached a new level of maturity — Nissan unveiled the highly specialized “Club Track Edition,” a purpose-built variant developed exclusively for circuit driving.

This was not a regular production model, but a made-to-order machine reserved only for selected owners participating in Nissan’s exclusive track program. Total production amounted to an astonishingly low 14 units. The example offered here is an exceptionally significant car, being the second chassis to roll off the production line. Considering that many of these cars were likely consumed through intense one-make racing activities, the survival of this example can only be described as miraculous.

Compared to the standard Pure Edition on which it was based, the Club Track Edition underwent an extensive weight reduction program totaling approximately 70kg and was fitted with dedicated suspension tuning. Furthermore, in preparation for the extreme demands of continuous circuit driving, the car received upgraded cooling systems including front and rear differential coolers and brake air guides, along with aerodynamic enhancements such as a dedicated front lip spoiler and underbody cover. In every sense, this was a true works-developed racing machine.

Inside the cabin, the exclusive full bucket seats embroidered with the “Club Track Edition” logo, together with the factory-installed 6-point roll cage designed to firmly protect its occupants, silently but unmistakably communicate the car’s innate purpose as a machine built to compete.

What makes this particular example especially remarkable is the fact that, despite being such an uncompromising track-focused car, it has successfully obtained road registration and can legally be driven on public roads.

Following the conclusion of the original track program, the vehicle underwent thorough maintenance at an authorized workshop and was fitted with the necessary road equipment, including the installation of a passenger seat, allowing it to be converted into a street-legal specification complete with registration plates.

The odometer currently shows approximately 27,100km. For a model originally intended for dedicated circuit use and often subjected to extremely demanding conditions, this can still be considered relatively low mileage.

In addition, the exterior has been updated with later-model headlight and taillight assemblies, giving the car a more modern appearance.

Even in standard form, the R35 GT-R is regarded as one of the highest-performing production sports cars in the world. Yet this particular machine embodies an irresistible contradiction — born from the outset as a dedicated circuit weapon, while remaining fully capable of legally driving on public roads. Combined with its immense historical significance as the second example built out of only 14 produced, this car stands as one of the ultimate neo-classic GT-R collector’s pieces, worthy of being preserved and celebrated for generations to come.
