BH AUCTION 1.10 at City Circuit Tokyo Bay

1971 Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R [KPGC10]

  • 2-Door Hardtop “Hakosuka” GT-R
  • Fitted with Panasport Wheels
  • Equipped with the Original Optional Rear Wing
  • A 1971 Example Finished by the Renowned Shiraishi Engineering

The Skyline 2000 GT-R dominated Japan’s touring car racing scene with unmatched strength.
The four-door sedan launched in 1969, followed in 1970 by the more desirable two-door hardtop version.

With production numbers believed to be fewer than 1,200 units, the hardtop GT-R has become one of Japan’s most sought-after classics. Its flared rear overfenders, Nissan’s legendary S20 engine, and its motorsport pedigree have earned it strong international demand and a near-mythic status among collectors.

The car offered here is a 1971 Skyline Hardtop 2000 GT-R prepared by Shiraishi Engineering, a name synonymous with GT-R craftsmanship.

It reflects the style Shiraishi favored: the distinctive red-painted engine head cover and, instead of Watanabe wheels, a set of Panasports—a choice that defines Shiraishi’s unmistakable taste. The rear glass even retains what appears to be an original Shiraishi Engineering decal, a rare surviving detail.

Several components—including the steering wheel and exhaust—are non-original, in keeping with the “period-correct” modifications commonly performed by Japanese GT-R specialists of the era. The car is fitted with the factory-optional rear wing; the underside shows the SKYLINE stamping that confirms it as an authentic Nissan part.

The interior has been carefully refreshed, presenting far better than expected for a vehicle built more than 50 years ago.
Overall, the condition reflects the diligent care of its previous owner and the craftsmanship of Shiraishi Engineering, making this a highly desirable example of the iconic Hakosuka GT-R.
