“FIA homologation acquired Racing E type”
A beautiful metallic blue 1963 Jaguar E-type Competition Coupe is in stock now. This car has received homologation in order to participate in the Historic GT race in June, 2007 and is ready to enter classic car races regulated by FIA.
This characteristic body color, named “Flag Metallic Blue”, was used by the legendary privateer team, Ecully Ekosse, which conquered the 24 Hours of LeMans with a Jaguar D-type in 1956 and 1957.
Winning 3 consecutive years at the Le Mans, Jaguar was committed to racing with the D-type, but not so much with the E-type. Instead, they proactively supported privateer teams. Various measures were taken to compete against the Ferrari 250 GTO which debuted later on. Many race cars exist today which are based on these motifs.
This car has a 3.8-liter DOHC inline six-cylinder engine. Although a SU carburetor was adopted for the road model, it was replaced with a larger diameter Weber 45 DCOE. To deal with the increased power, aluminum and steel were deftly used for the body and acryl for the windows to reduce the weight by 920kg.
The power of the engine is transmitted to the road surface through a 4-speed manual transmission.
The front wheels measuring "15 x 7” are combined with racing tires by Dunlop, measuring 5.50 M-15 while "15 x 7.5” rear wheels are fitted with 6.00 M-15 rubbers. Jaguar D-type is the first car to adopt a four-wheel disc brake, but the E-type also adopted for what was at that time a powerful Dunlop disc brake with a front wheel diameter of 292mm and rear wheel diameter of 254mm.
This vehicle has undergone various modification as a race car to compete at a high level in a classic race. This example comes with a FIA homologation documents so there is no need to worry about entering FIA regulated races. This flag-metallic blue coupe with a classic shape is absolutely beautiful to look at in the garage, but seeing it speed through the circuit will be even more appealing.
