The C3 Corvette is the third-generation model of the Corvette, produced from 1968 to 1982. Known for its "coke bottle" design, the C3 is often considered the most glamorous among all Corvette models. During its time, it was affectionately known as the Corvette Stingray, and its powerful bold design was praised as a symbol of American "muscle".
The charm lies in its sharply pointed nose and glamorous proportions, defined by the Coke bottle line. The C3 introduced a unique variety of styles, including a convertible top and the first mass-production T-bar, although the chassis and suspensions were largely inherited from the previous C2 generation.
The retractable headlight mechanism was changed from the previous generation, switching from a rotating mechanism to a more conventional design where the cover is lifted upwards. This feature remains unique among all Corvette generations. While the engine lineup carried over from the previous generation, in 1969 the big-block unit's displacement was increased to 7,440cc. The standard, small-block unit also saw its displacement increase from 5,358cc to 5,738cc in the same year, however, output remained at 300 horsepower.
This example is a 1972 Targa Top model, marking the final year of the iron bumper specification. A 5,738cc small-block engine powers it.
The exterior features distinctive side-exit mufflers and 15-inch rallye wheels with GOODYEAR white-letter tyres, giving it a classic American muscle look.
Unfortunately, there are no records of the restoration process or maintenance history, and the documentation is limited to a “Cancellation of the Registration” certificate, proof that the car was once registered in Japan. Therefore, we recommend a careful in-person inspection before placing a bid.
