This is a full-fledged camper, combining a Dodge M-series chassis with a body by Australian bodywork manufacturer Explorer Motor Homes Corp. According to Mr Ikeda, this vehicle has also been minimally modified since it was purchased, and apart from a cab rebuild, it has remained untouched since it was imported.
The previous owner on the registration certificate had the car in California, and it is fitted with a US number plate, making it a highly rare car that retains the 70s Americana feel.
The angular body design, which is rare now in modern vehicles. It is one class below full-size so it is surprisingly compact. Compared to full-size campers, it manoeuvres well and therefore it is easy and practical to drive in Japan.
The interior is quite simple, with minimal decorations apart from a Betsy Ross flag. In place of a generator and electronic equipment, there is a period Coleman stove and grill, as well as a toilet also from the era. There is a spacious bed at the back of the cabin, and the sofa can be unfolded above the driver's seat and converted into another bed. The living space is also large, with room for four or five people to sleep, which means that all kinds of renovation is possible.
The engine is a Dodge engine, for which parts are plentiful, making it a perfect vehicle as a base for restoration.
