1965 Ford Econoline Falcon

  • Starting at ¥1
  • Aluminium roof travel compartment
  • American racing 15-inch wheels
  • Retractable side steps

Along with the Volkswagen Bus, the Ford Econoline was an integral part of the history of 1960s vanlife.

As the name suggests, the Econoline was sold on the concept of being affordable and easy to drive, and was popular with the young people. The Econoline still boasts strong popularity today due to its iconic status in the 60s.

Although it is a full-size van, it is surprisingly compact as it is based on the Falcon and has a 90-inch wheelbase. The engine being mounted under the driver’s seat was an unusual design at the time, helping achieve the compactness Ford desired.

This particular model was built as a camping model with an eye-catching aluminium travel roof. The unique arching silhouette highlights the retro look and also significantly increases the space in the car and allows for extra light inside.

The exterior is a gold colour, which is believed to be original, and the stylish mouldings, which were exclusive to the passenger model Club Wagon, have been left clean and intact. The car’s previous owner fitted the van with American Sport 15-inch wheels.

The interior is packed with camping-specific equipment, including a stove, sink and fridge from the period. The sofa can be converted into a bed to comfortably sleep two or three people. The side doors are double-hinged with interlocking steps, designed for loading and unloading luggage and for getting in and out of the vehicle with ease.

If you dream of a vintage van life, there is no other vehicle more picturesque.
