1973 Mazda Kraft Truck

  • Starting at ¥1
  • Metallic green full repaint
  • 16-inch wheels
  • Later model with square lights
  • Ergonomic interior

This vehicle is a customised Mazda Kraft commercial truck, which was designed with practicality in mind. The name 'Kraft' is taken from the German, meaning power, and was designed to be a tough truck that was robust and could go anywhere. This particular model is a later model with square headlights, giving it a more rugged look.

The custom theme was designed with the Mercedes-Benz 'Unimog' in mind. Larger wheels and tyres add to its “Kraft” power. The body has been made taller without any lifting, giving it more of a Unimog silhouette. For practical use in Japan, the tyres will need to be replaced or have wings fitted.

The most famous colour for the Kraft truck is Helios Green, a bright yellow-green colour, but this one is in Offbeat Khaki Metallic, a genuine Daihatsu colour.

However, as with the Toyoace, which was customised in a similar vein, no other parts of this truck have been customised. The interior has also not been altered and remains in its original condition. The interior has not been modified and is in good condition with no major rust anywhere. The engine is accessible by removing the three bench seats, and the compact 1500cc 75hp package means that heat is unlikely to rise to the driver's seat. The radiator and brake oil are accessible by opening the bonnet without having to remove the driver's seat, which is typical of commercial trucks.

The Kraft is designed with an emphasis on user-friendliness. The driver's seat has a wide field of vision and a large triangular window for easy ventilation, making driving comfortable without air conditioning. The cargo bed also has no protruding wings, making it easy to load a large amount of cargo.
