1969 Ford Econoline Club Wagon
- 123-inch long wheelbase model
- Camping version
- Pop-up roof
- 3-speed automatic gearbox
This is the second generation of the Ford Econoline, specifically designed for serious campers. It is also the longest model, with a 123-inch wheelbase.
The second generation Econoline marked a major design change from its predecessor and has laid the foundations for the high-performance vans that continue to this day. The most significant feature of this generation was that the engine, which had previously been mounted under the driver's seat, was moved forward and fitted with a short bonnet. This made it possible to install a larger V8 engine, and also allowed for more interior space. Another advantage was that the bonnet made it easier to access the engine.
One of the most striking characteristics of this camping focused model is the pop-up roof. The roof, which unfolds horizontally, allows for a more homogenous extension of the interior space compared to arched roofs, emphasising the spaciousness of the Econoline. When unfolded, the sides of the roof have a green stripe that matches the body colour. The side doors are user-friendly double swinging doors with unfolding steps.
The interior is also well equipped for camping, with a sink, spacious kitchen area and multiple storage areas, including a closet. The sofa transforms into a bed and unfolds with enough space for two people to sleep.
Since coming to Orange, the car has not had any problems and has never needed repairs. The engine runs well, and when it was displayed at the Field Style event in Nagoya, it was driven to the venue.
It could be used for camping and other leisure activities as it is, and it is easy to customise it to your own taste. It is equipped with a three-speed automatic transmission, making it a suitable vehicle for users who want to pursue both practicality and style.
