“The Japanese Ferrari”
Gainer (formerly Jim Gainer), boasts a long history as a prestigious privateer racing team, and developed this 360 in collaboration with the famous constructor "DOME". In 2008, Gainer transplanted the body of the F430, the latest model at the time, and entered the Super GT GT300. The difference in the body and base car, the car was listed as "F430", but on the registration it was listed as "360", may have caused some fans to suspect a mistake in the entry list. The car was developed as a JAF GT car and powered by a Toda Racing 3.5-litre V8 'F131B' engine. It’s also right hand drive, which is very rare for a Ferrari racing car.
While not a race winner, it was a good performer. The torn bucket seats are a clear indication of its racing history as it had to go through several mid-race driver changes. The number 11 it still carries is a traditional Gainer number. Nowadays it would not be possible to make "Japanese Ferrari authorized by Ferrari". The existence of this one of a kind car makes it legendary, and it is one of the most important cars in the history of the famous team.
About Team GAINER
GAINER is a prestigious racing team based in Kyoto, Japan, a regular SUPER GT GT300 category that has an impressive record, including winning the championship in 2015 without retiring from a single race. GAINER was established in 1999 and debuted at the Pokka 1000km race held at Suzuka Circuit that year. The following year, in 2000, the team entered JGTC (Japan GT Championship), and in 2003 they introduced the JAF-GT regulation Ferrari 360, which was jointly developed with DOME. In just their fourth year of racing, the team achieved their first podium finish.
In 2005, in order to solve the engine's lack of power and high fuel consumption, the team decided to switch to a Mugen racing engine, which at the time was highly successful in endurance racing. This update paid off, and the team was able to finish 2nd at Fuji in the 6th round of the season. The combination of DOME's 360-based chassis and Mugen's engine saw the car being called the "NSX in Ferrari skin".
In 2008, GAINER introduced this unique car, a 360 with the body from an F430, the latest model at the time. The team has had a diverse range of cars, since then they switched to Audi and Mercedes-Benz, but has consistently been successful, and is currently an official partner team of Nissan’s Nismo, aiming for the championship with the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.
