1993 Mazda Enfini RX-7 (FD3S)
- 5,781km on the odometer
- 2 owner car
- Dealer maintenance completed in 2020
The third generation RX-7, the FD3S model, debuted in October 1991, marking the second full model change for the RX-7. The "Savanna" name used for the first and second generations was dropped, and the third generation was initially released under the name "Enfini", before rebranding as the Mazda RX-7.
The third generation RX-7 (FD3S) was the only mass-produced car with a rotary engine in the world, as production of the Eunos Cosmo, a rotary engine car also marketed by Mazda, was discontinued in 1996. The FD3S model went through six minor changes since its debut, and became a long-selling model that was produced for about 11 years. The vehicle presented here is a 1993 Enfini RX-7 Type 1 Type R.
This specific example was purchased in 2020 by the current owner through an acquaintance at a used car dealership. The previous owner was based in Kyushu and had stored it indoors, with the odometer reading remaining in the 3,000 km range. The long-term storage was due to the previous owner’s circumstances, not related to any vehicle issues, and upon purchase by the current owner, there were no troubles reported. When the current owner took possession, the car underwent comprehensive maintenance at a dealer.
The maintenance included replacing suspension components with new genuine parts, although the shock absorbers were replaced with genuine-style Kayaba units due to the unavailability of original parts. Compression pressure checks were also conducted, confirming that everything is in good condition.
The vehicle comes with maintenance records from the first year of registration, has no accident history, and is in pristine condition. It includes a spare key, new floor mats, the owner’s manual, and all accessories.
Despite being a popular model known for both customization potential and driving enjoyment, this RX-7 maintains its original condition except for the suspension modifications. With a remarkably low mileage of just 5,000 km, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a low mileage vehicle.
