This is the BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution, produced in a limited edition of only 600 units over a two-year period from 1989 to 1990.
The Sport Evolution (2.5 L) was special among the specials; built to comply with touring car homologation at the time, and its rivalry with the Mercedes 190E 2.5 L Evolution 2 is a well-known story.
The car presented here is based on such a special M3 with modifications inspired by DTM machines.

The combination of 255-size Advan A050 that fit in the enlarged fenders (replaced with new parts), 17-inch RAYS TE37, and AP Racing brake kit (6 pot front, 4 pot rear), it is clear to see that this car was mainly designed for circuit driving. Most of the additional work on this vehicle was done by J-Craft, and it has original adjustable coilovers and matching spring rates (12 kg/mm front, much stiffer 26.8 kg/mm rear coils).

The front-mounted carbon lip spoiler extends to under the engine and serves to regulate the airflow under the body. The bumper is fitted with carbon canards, which create downforce in the front. The doors and hood are made of FRP and the windows are made of acrylic to reduce weight.

The engine is a BMW Motorsports block and air cleaner, and a J-Craft original 2.7L stroker crankshaft and cam are installed and controlled by MoTeC. The exhaust system is also fitted with a J-Craft manifold and a titanium exhaust system. With these tuning measures, the car produces a maximum output of 310 hp and 314 Nm of torque.

The interior is free of any comfort equipment, and the Recaro SPG with a chromoly roll cage and Sabelt 4-point harnesses adds to the race ready feel. The dashboard remains stock, but the gauges have been replaced with Stack products. The highlight is the six-speed sequential shift made by Quaife. The sequential shift allows for instantaneous shift changes.

The E30 M3 is a machine that is unparalleled in terms of performance. This is a must have for those who want to drive hard on the race track.
