SUPER CAR AUCTION

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 R [Type 997]

  • FIA GT3 machine
  • Type 997 late model
  • Paddle shift
  • Race history (GT Asia)

The Porsche 911 GT3 R is a race car that conforms to Porsche's FIA GT3 standards and is positioned between the 911 GT3 CUP, a one-make race model in the lineup for customer racing teams, and the 911 GT3 RSR, a car for the GT2 category such as the Le Mans 24 Hours.

This example is a 2011 model of the Type 997 second generation, but has been updated to the 2012 model specifications. The 2012 model has a 4-liter horizontally opposed engine with an optimized intake system that has increased maximum output by 20 hp to 500 hp. The transmission remains the same, a dog-type 6-speed sequential transmission, but it has been strengthened to match the increased power. The transmission has also been changed to a paddle shift, allowing the driver to concentrate more on steering and braking.
The traction control system also evolved since the 911 GT3 R's debut in 2010, and ABS is said to provide more precise control of braking. The car's high potential has been proven in races around the world, with its first and second place finishes in the Super GT 300 class in 2012 still fresh in many minds.

The owner of this car is a collector who has owned and driven many racing cars and supercars, and the condition of the car is well documented. This is a genuine Type 997 GT racing car, which is currently very popular among Porsche collectors, and is therefore one of the cars of interest in this auction.
