1988 TOYOTA SUPRA 3.0GT Turbo A
- Exclusive 500 unit production
- Equipped with a specialized Turbo A turbine
- Only 2,250km clocked on the odometer
To gain homologation (ES=Sports Evolution), only 500 limited-model A70 Supra “Turbo A” were produced in 1988, to race in the Group A Category.
A standard grade, 2.5-liter straight-six turbo “1JZ” was upgraded to a special “Turbo A Turbine” equipped with a 3-liter straight-six turbo “7M-GTE”, capable of 270ps which was very high spec at that time.
The front bumper center section’s triple duct “aka: Turbo A Duct”, black-colored body and wheel, with only a 5-speed MT available, analog indicators (standard indicators are digital), and the suspension system fortified with specially designed parts. It is indeed a spartan “Group A Homologation” setting.
This example shows only 2,250km and besides the muffler being changed to a third-party parts it remains original. At a time when the reborn new Supra is gaining popularity, its ancestor, a special model “A70” with low millage, is certain to draw attention from its avid fans.
