2012 RUF Rt12 S “R Conversion”

  • Equipped with a 730ps/940Nm “R” spec engine
  • Converted meticulously by RUF
  • An extremely rare model and only one in Japan

Based on the 997 Porsche 911 Turbo, the RUF Rt12 was unveiled to the public in 2004 at the Essen Motor Show in Germany. Ruf, a tuning maker that is highly regarded by Porsche, has updated the twin turbo 3.6-liter flat 6 to a maximum output of 530-560ps (output can by chosen as options).

The “S”, a later model was updated to have a maximum output of 685ps and maximum torque to 820Nm. Reigning on top of the Super Car League as the “ultimate machine”.

This example based on the “S”, upon the request of a Japanese owner, went through a conversion into a special car by installing the powerful “R” spec engine by the hands of the Ruf. The Rt12R which came out in 2011, as the successor for Rt12S, was equipped with a flat-six twin turbo, the displacement updated to 3.8-liter. An absurd spec of maximum output of 730ps and maximum torque of 940Nm was realized. It outdid the GT2RS, their flagship model’s 620ps for Porsche at that time by a wide margin, it had a very strong presence.

This example did not choose the more race-oriented body style of the “R” (GT wing, fender with duct) and went with the sleek body style “S”. The transmission box is a short shift six-speed MT and is a 4WD.

The “R” conversion Rt12S is an extremely rare model, and only one in Japan. The example is in excellent condition, capable of high performance and highly collectible.
