BH AUCTION 1.10 at City Circuit Tokyo Bay

1992 Daimler Double Six

  • Final-model with ABS
  • 5.3L V12 SOHC engine
  • A masterpiece of British craftsmanship
  • Interior wrapped in Connolly’s finest leather and rich walnut
  • Still delivers its famously silky driving feel

In 1972, Jaguar introduced the 5.3-liter V12 SOHC engine to the XJ range, giving birth to the XJ12. That same year, Daimler revived the historic “Double Six” name—originating from its revered 1920s models—positioning it as the flagship. Despite two subsequent facelifts, the fundamental architecture remained unchanged, allowing the model to be produced until 1992.
The exterior carries the signature fluted grille, crafted by hand and long associated with classic Daimler models. Beneath it lies the V12 engine, derived from the Jaguar E-Type’s celebrated design, refined for a top-tier luxury saloon with exceptional quietness and a rotation quality often described as “silky smooth.” Graceful yet powerful—this is the essence of the Double Six.
Stepping inside, the atmosphere becomes even more enchanting. The cabin is upholstered in Connolly’s finest Autolux leather, with deep burr walnut adorning the dashboard. Every detail is hand-finished by artisans, creating an interior worthy of its reputation as the pinnacle of British luxury saloons.
This particular example has preserved that charm to a remarkable degree. It comes with its owner’s manual, ten service-record sheets, a Pioneer head unit, and an ETC device, and as a late-model example equipped with ABS, it also offers reassuring usability. Carefully maintained throughout its life, it stands today as a rare surviving Double Six in truly exceptional condition.
