2004 NISMO Fairlady Z S-tune GT [Z33]

  • Equipped with an S1-spec engine producing 300ps (296hp)
  • Works technology applied to a GT500 homologation machine
  • Fitted with S-tuned suspension and large-diameter Brembo front brakes
  • Features specially designed bucket-type seats

In 2002, after a two-year hiatus, the fifth-generation [Z33] Fairlady Z was introduced.
The 2+2 four-seater layout was discontinued, and as announced with the statement "The Z evolves every year," a total of four engine upgrades were made before a full model change in 2008.

Initially, the car was equipped with a VQ35DE 3.5L V6 engine producing 280ps. In the 2005 minor update, the power output was increased to 294ps for the manual transmission version only. Then, in 2007, the engine was upgraded to the VQ35HR—shared with the Skyline sedan—raising the output to 313ps.

Both a 5-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual transmission were available, along with several variants such as the Roadster.

The Z33 also competed in the SUPER GT GT500 class, and its homologation model—the “Type E”—was announced in January 2004. Featuring a long-nose, long-tail bumper and side finishers, and stripped of an audio system, it was sold for only a single month.

The car featured here was released by NISMO at the same time as the “Type E” homologation model. While it shares the large front and rear bumpers with the Type E, its internals are entirely different. It includes dedicated suspension, large Brembo brakes, exclusive 19-inch forged aluminum wheels, and a specially tuned chassis.

The engine it houses is a naturally aspirated, mechanically tuned special version known as the "S1-spec." With custom cams, valve springs, and more, the engine tuning surpasses Japan’s voluntary power cap, aiming for 300ps (296hp).

Featuring specially designed bucket seats and other enhancements, it’s a model that still enjoys a passionate fanbase—despite being a limited-time, made-to-order version.
This particular unit is one of those rare, limited-order models, delivered in 2004, as indicated by the "20th Anniversary" logo emblem.
Mileage stands in the 39,000 km range. It's a unit that has maintained its original condition.
