The Bedford CA Dormobile is a camping model based on the Bedford CA, an iconic British commercial vehicle manufactured from 1952 to 1969. The camper conversion was completed by the coach builder Dormobile, whose roots are in the horse carriage manufacturing industry, and has become a vehicle with a unique charm that combines British flair and classic utility.

This example is probably one of the last ones with the distinct split windshield, which was only made from 1952 to 1958; after 1958 these vans came with more conventional single-piece windshields. As such, these models are now very rare and it is highly likely that this is the only one imported to Japan.

However, the greatest attraction of this car may be its interesting history. This Bedford was restored in 2001, and became a car show favorite, attracting many people with its uniqueness. In the 2008 Classic Camper Club event, it won "Best Panel Van" and "Best of Show". From 2009 to 2010, it was owned by the fashion brand Diesel.

When Mr. Ikeda from Orange saw it, he was captivated by its charm and imported it to Japan. Mr. Ikeda wanted the Bedford to retain its original characteristics thus no modifications have been made to the exterior and interior. This Bedford features a pop-up “accordion” roof with its original “Candy stripes” with a new one-off glass vent inside of the pop-up roof itself. As for camping equipment, it is equipped with its original stove and a sink. The wooden table and four independent "Dormobile seats" are also original. The rear seat can be transformed into a double bed or two single beds.

It has a 1,507cc engine and a 3-speed column shift manual. Some maintenance is required to repair the brakes and battery, however, aside from these, it is in truly exceptional condition. The king of 50s and 60s British camping, this Bedford has over 60 years of historical documents that have been passed down from various owners and engraved with the era and life of each.
