The V8 mid-engine models have become Ferrari’s flagship series. The special series of V8 models, which combined high performance and distinctive presence, have garnered so much attention and popularity that every model in the series has become a collectible.
The beginning of Ferrari’s V8 special series was the Challenge Stradale, based on the 360 Modena and infused with technology from the one-make Challenge racing series. Following the successful start, models like the F430 Scuderia, 458 Speciale, and 488 Pista were released, now also all sought after. This specific model is the 488 Pista, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2018. The name “Pista” means track in Italian. The concept of “a race-like experience for racecar drivers” stands out most in this model among other special models in Ferrari’s lineup.
With a powertrain generating 730 hp, 49 hp more than the base model, extensive changes were made to the engine components, nearly half of the parts were newly designed compared to the 488 GTB. This not only increased power but also achieved an 18 kg weight reduction in the engine alone.
Furthermore, Ferrari heavily emphasized aerodynamics with this model. The F1 inspired front S-duct, the underbody similar to the 488 Challenge, rear outlet design from the FXX-K, and rear diffuser from the 488 GTE are among the many modifications. Compared to the 488 GTB, these enhancements meant 20% more downforce and significantly improved engine cooling performance.
The 488 Pista packs performance and technology akin to a racing car, yet its control systems have evolved to ensure anyone can enjoy its capabilities. Ferrari’s proprietary Side Slip Control (SSC) was now in its sixth generation, incorporating new steering control derived from the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer (FDE). With an entirely new approach for gear shifts, brake control, and exhaust sound, it is the ultimate road car that anyone can enjoy driving.
This particular example stands out for its extremely low mileage of just 2,176 km and a wide array of options. It features a Nero Daytona (black) exterior complemented by a Rosso (red) Alcantara interior, beautifully matched with abundant carbon parts, achieving a perfect blend of luxury and race-inspired aesthetics. Currently owned by a collector of multiple supercars, its impeccable storage conditions make it a must-have for Ferrari enthusiasts with the soaring market value of this model.
