1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 [Type 964]
- Right-hand drive
- Carrera RS chassis
- Carrera 2 engine and transmission
The third generation of the Porsche 911, the Type 964, debuted in 1989 and featured for the first time Porsche’s Tiptronic automatic transmission. This era was also when the one-make series for the Porsche 911, the Carrera Cup and the Super Cup debuted, which opened the door to a wide range of users and laid the foundation for the modern era.
The Type 964 featured a host of developments over its predecessor, the Type 930. Not only the engine, but also the powertrain, drive system, and various equipment were thoroughly reviewed. The suspension was changed from a torsion bar to a coil spring type, and modern equipment such as power steering and ABS were installed, greatly improving operability.
This particular example is a RHD 2WD model of the Type 964, known as the 911 Type 964 Carrera 2. The most notable feature is that the chassis has been changed to that of a Carrera RS (confirmed by the chassis number) which features widened rear fenders. The engine remains that of a Carrera 2.
This 1993 model is finished in a striking Maritime Blue with Recaro seats. The odometer shows under 19,000 miles (just over 30,500 km). The car is accompanied by a Japanese import certificate and UK V5 registration certificate, indicating that the car was at one time registered in the UK.
