The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign is a limited edition model based on the concept cars that Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Italdesign unveiled in June 2018 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the GT-R and Italdesign respectively. This prototype was developed, designed, and manufactured by Italdesign. The interior and exterior designs were handled by Nissan Design Europe in London and Nissan Design America.
The car’s striking front end features a unique gold panel spanning the full width of the car accented by sharp LED headlights. The bonnet is removable to showcase the full engine bay. The side view is characterized by a roofline 54mm lower than that of the base car, including a dip in the center - adding a muscular look. The distinctive air outlets on the front fenders, known as the "Samurai Blades", are highlighted by the gold inlays.
The rear design features a powerful flare around the rear wheels and the shoulder line tapers toward the bottom of the rear window to converge into the trunk lid. The rear window line is longer and deeper than on the base car. The signature round taillights of the GT-R are ringed in gold, connecting the center of the trunk to the outer panel and making it appear as if they are floating. The rear wing is vertically adjustable.
The interior is based on the GT-R Nismo, featuring two types of carbon fiber for the center console, instrument panel, and door linings, and black Alcantara and black Italian leather for the seats. To match the exterior, gold accents are scattered on the instrument panel, doors, and switches that are reminiscent of a futuristic racing car. The custom steering wheel has a carbon fiber hub and spokes, and the rim is trimmed in Alcantara.
The engine is a VR38DETT with NISMO-exclusive tuning, with the maximum output increased from 600 hp to 720 hp through the use of the GT-R's FIA-GT3 specification turbocharger, larger intercooler, reinforced crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, and bearings. The GR6 type 6-speed dual clutch transmission, drive shaft, and differential have also been reinforced to match the engine. The suspension is also equipped with Bilstein dampers with special settings to match the specially designed 21-inch wheels. The tires are Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
The Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign was limited to 50 units and was available worldwide, in keeping with its name. The base price was 990,000 euros (excluding tax and fees), which was about 127 million yen at the time, making it a very expensive model and a hot topic. Due to COVID-19 and the high price tag, only 18 models were produced. This particular example has only 213 km on the odometer. It has a customs clearance certificate and transfer certificate, and is scheduled to undergo a preliminary inspection in Japan.
